Today, October 20, the media reported that Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security, was promoted to the rank of General.
The person who signed and presented the decision to promote Quang was State President To Lam who is also General Secretary of the ruling Communist Party of Vietnam.
Former police chief To Lam presented the decision to promote the rank from Senior Lieutenant General to General to Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang.
General Secretary cum State President To Lam – a fellow Hung Yen native – was also the person who promoted Quang to head the Ministtry of Public Security. Notably, on his last day as State President, Lam hurriedly presented this decision to Quang, because tomorrow, October 21, the National Assembly will elect a new State President.
An internal source said:
It is expected that at the end of October, the newly-promoted four-star General Luong Tam Quang will return to his hometown to “return home to pay respect to his ancestors” in Luong Xa village, Hiep Cuong commune, Kim Dong district, Hung Yen province.
It is known that Minister Quang assigned his secretary Nguyen Minh Phuong to order more than 300 trays of food in Hanoi and send them back to his hometown to treat the village and show gratitude to his ancestors.
To avoid spreading images, Phuong was assigned to manage guests and strictly forbid filming and taking photos in any form.
In Quang’s “return home to pay respect to his ancestors” banquet, there will certainly be many “delicacies” on the menu, but there will be no Russian polar bear legs or gold-plated beef sprinkled with salt.
